What’s Next? The Art of Prediction

From unself-conscious to self-conscious

The second edition of Megawra’s Mentorship program is a chance to collectively create a vision for the future of Architecture in Egypt.
What next?….A question not easily answered in light of the ambiguity of our past and present and our uniformed understanding of our past.

The program offers a short journey of self-exploration by revisiting architectural design, history and theory going through three major time shifts:
1- A hundred years 1900-2000
2-The last 14 years 2000-2014
3-What next?....future scenarios

The idea behind this program reverberates with a world trend of reevaluating the past and the present and subsequently rethinking the future. This trend is manifested in this year’s Venice Biennale theme “Fundamentals” featuring a different taste of a global self-consciousness journey.

This month’s mentor - our guide through the unself-conscious to self-conscious journey is Arch.MostafaHossam.
Mostafa Hossam Fahmy is a practicing Architect, graduated at Cairo University, Faculty of Engineering-Architectural Department 1979, worked at many Architectural design studios and engineering firms in Egypt, KSA, Qatar and Emirates, participated in many Architectural and planning projects and competitions with local and international design offices. He believes in the potential role of architects to comprehend the complexity of the moment and respond in order to change reality towards a better future.
