Wild Descent:

On March 9th, Olivier Dubois selected 20 dancers from the audition that was held at CCDC.
The 20 dancers will start the rehearsals with Olivier on April 26th for the project "Wild Descent" which will be performed on May 4th in Alexandria as part of the 7th Edition of Nassim El Raqs Festival and in collaboration with Nout for Art and Media Production.

"Wild Descent" is an adaptation of The Afternoon of a Faun for 20 dancers, based on the original Nijinski’s partition
What if a call from that dying faun could generate a wild pack? Then there would be 60 fauns, like 60 remainings of a forgotten story
To create a wild echo to the Afternoon of a Faun, is to amplify his call, his desire and his power; in the city and to the world

Monument of dance history, L'Après-midi d'un faune (The Afternoon of a Faun) was choreographed and performed by star dancer Vaslav Nijinsky in Paris on 29 May 1912 and has been seen as the most controversial performance of the Ballets Russes signaling the beginning of a shift towards modernism. As its score it used the Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune by Claude Debussy composed in 1894, both dance and music are inspired by the poem L'Après-midi d'un faune by Stéphane Mallarmé written in 1876.

The rehearsals will take place at CCDC
from April 26th to 30th.
