Mission Statement
The Greater Cairo Library was inaugurated on the twenty-fourth of January 1995, and during the past ten years, distinguished achievements have been achieved, as the number of visitors to the library (600 beneficiaries) has doubled daily, and new services have been introduced such as the information service by telephone and fax, the Information Technology Club, and the provision of selective broadcasting of information and current briefing. And issuing a series of books and studies, and organizing a program for cultural and artistic activity for adults and children that is being covered by various media. The Greater Cairo Library is the largest public library in Egypt and one of the most prominent centers of cultural and civilizational radiation established by the Ministry of Culture to serve researchers, scholars and the general public of different groups and ages. It was owned by Princess Samiha Kamel (daughter of Sultan Hussein Kamel) at the end of the nineteenth century.
